Lovely Cup of Tea

What better than a lovely cup of tea in the garden after a long day at work.

Gardens looking good at the moment.  Mimi helped me collect some courgettes for tea.  We have the first tomatoes coming through although I have a sneaky feeling they will all ripen whilst we are away.

Wet soggy weekend in East Sussex

Last weekend the three of us spent a soggy couple of nights under canvas with our friends Kate & Shaun in East Sussex.

It didn't start too well with the wind howling down the valley we nearly lost the tent and Mimi had to be strapped screaming "I want to get out" in to her buggy whilst I helped Mike pitch the tent.

Despite having a seriously sore throat, being freezing cold (even though all of the forecasters had predicted a bumper weekend) the howling wind, the driving rain and the hill fog we had a great weekend with great company.

Mimi enjoyed sleeping on her new "Pink Princess" blow up bed (which she kept slipping off all night) and eating her breakfast in her rain coat whilst watching peppa pig on the laptop.  Thank goodness for modern technology!!

And I enjoyed drinking wine and gossiping with Kate.

Saturday we walked into Alfriston - a very quaint little village, although as my husband pointed out it was "heavy on the wants and light on the needs".
I visited the Much ado Books which I could have spent hours in if I didn't have Mimi in tow! - (Michael was sitting in The Singing Kettle having coffee).

I brought Mimi a gorgeous ABC book by Bruno Munari's.

Despite being lulled into a false sense of security the hill mist continued and on the way back to our campsite Kate and I considered stopping for a glass of wine or maybe something with a bit of fizz at  Wingrove House but decided that we were probably not dressed for the occasion in our wellies!!  Having got home and checked it out on the internet at £155 a night I am almost certain we would have been turned away.  Maybe another time??

All in all we had a good weekend which was finished off with the sun finally coming out.  Through general consensus we have concluded that the campsite which at £6 per head per night was a bit dodgy and we probably wont be returning.  There were only three showers in the ladies and two in the men's which were intermittent in both temperature and pressure and two toilets.  Facilities, although adequate were not the cleanest and you wouldn't want to shower without your CROCS.

Our next camping adventure is now less than two weeks away. Let's hope the weather will be as good as this then.

Have you been camping? We are always on the lookout for good sites.
